The case for lighting

Light brings people in

A dark building disappears after 4:30 in a Seattle December. The research on signs, lighting and safety points the same way: when people can see you, more of them come in.

76%

of shoppers have walked into a store for the first time because its sign caught their eye.

FedEx Office survey, 20121
+12%

average sales gain reported by businesses that upgraded their signs, in an 18-month study of 225 businesses.

University of Cincinnati, 20122
40 to 60%

more visible to drivers: signs lit from within compared with signs lit from outside.

US Sign Council Foundation3
36%

fewer serious outdoor crimes at night where new lighting went in, in a randomized trial.

University of Chicago Crime Lab, 20194

The first three come from sign industry research, and none of it measures permanent lighting alone. In one retailer's test, lighting that changed in the shop window brought 19% more people through the door on weekday afternoons.5

Three choices make the look

Which way the light points, which light you use, and the track it mounts in. Every combination runs on the same controller and app, and you can mix them on one building.

2Which light

A restaurant at night with red, orange and green light bars along every roofline edge

Light bars

A smooth, solid line of light with no dots: the neon look. Outlines rooflines, parapets, awnings and windows.

Points out or down

RGBW C9 bulbs mounted in white and black track

RGBW C9

The faceted holiday bulb people know, mounted in its own track and changing color from the app.

Points out

A low-profile Pebble light module in its channel

Pebble

A small point of light in a slim channel that nearly disappears by day. The lowest cost per foot.

Points out or down

A Puck light module with three LEDs

Puck

Three LEDs in every light, the brightest point. Its larger channel needs flat room below the gutter or cap.

3Which track color

Every light screws into a rigid track that runs along the building. Pick the material, then the color that matches.

One system

The whole building on one app

Large displays run on commercial WEC3 Pro controllers, with power added along long runs. Add light bars or a patio later and they join the same scenes.

Long runs

Power is fed in along the run so the far end is as bright and true in color as the near end.

Multiple buildings

Controllers can be grouped so a whole center or campus runs one scene together.

Add on any time

Start with the frontage. Add the back, a second building or more light bars later at the same rates.

Managed scenes

Every season, without lifting a finger

Most owners and managers don't have time to change lights for every holiday. With your OK, we connect to your system remotely and run your calendar for you: the holidays, game days, your brand colors, a sale or an event, then back to clean warm white.

Built for a board to approve

For anything that needs a vote, we put together a visual proposal for the board: a night picture of your building, the plan line by line, prices, choices and a guide for the manager who presents it.

Care plans, sized to your building

  • Labor to find and replace warranty parts, free
  • Visual inspection of every line and controller
  • Firmware updates
  • Priority scheduling
  • 5% off other WindowWorks services
